Christmas season is around the corner, and you can find the perfect gift for the 5-year old girl in your life below. Four and five-year-old girls are easy to shop for, but these gifts ideas will help kids learn and grow while keeping them entertained for hours!
In my house we always talk about the “big gift” that one special item that stands out from all the others under the tree. We’ve had many years of experience trying to find the best “big gift”, but the list below highlights our absolute best picks for 5-year old girls. If you are on the search for presents for 2 or 3-year old girls, check out this post.
“Big Gift” Ideas
KidCraft Dollhouse
It’s no surprise that most 5-year old girls love to play with dolls. When shopping for a dollhouse, there are many options to choose, but Kidkraft has several models that are high-quality wood and come with absolutely beautiful dollhouse furniture. The Mansion model is a traditional three-story mansion complete with garage and staircase!
This dollhouse will occupy both girls and boys for hours! We purchased it two years ago and my 3 and 5-year-old still both play with it every single day. Traditional barbie dolls fit well in the house, so no need to purchase additional dolls.
Find it on Amazon here.
Micro Kickboard Maxi Scooter
For the little girl who loves adventure, the Micro Maxi three-wheel scooter is amazing at teaching balance and coordination. Its user-friendly construction helps kids pick up scooting quickly. It can withstand up to 120 pounds and is super durable, so kids will play with this for years to come.
For the younger child in your life, Micro also makes the Mini which is great for smaller kids. My youngest daughter has been riding it since she was 18 months old. Be sure to grab a helmet as well.
American Girl Doll
Back to the doll story, American Girls dolls are in a class of their own. Primarily because they are extremely well made, which is rare to find in this day and age. The doll hair is beautiful and can be styled, washed and brushed over and over again.
The life-like features and soft body are extremely high quality and durable. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, and this is one thing that every 5-year old girl would be extremely awestruck to see under the Christmas tree.
The collection comes with a range of accessories, supplies and clothing. My personal recommendation is to invest in the doll, but opt for the much, much cheaper, non-brand name versions of clothing and accessories, like this 24-piece collection for $28.
Springless Trampoline
While they are pricier than a traditional trampoline, Spring-free trampolines like the Free Jump Springless Trampoline are praised by medical professionals as being the safest trampolines available on the market.
If you aren’t able to spring for the spring-free trampoline, but are still looking for a place for little ones to blow off some energy, a traditional 10-foot trampoline like this one will run you a few hundred dollars.
Pink Ride on Jeep with Remote Control
These Jeeps are a great option for Power Wheels-like ride on vehicles that won’t break the bank. I have this exact model and it comes with working lights, a real radio that can play a range of stations and a remote control. My kids have a blast playing with these. Bonus points for looking super exciting under the Christmas Tree!
Kids Camera
Kids love taking pictures. You can give them the power to learn about angles, lighting and other aspects of photography by giving a kid-safe camera.
This kid-safe polaroid camera is also a great idea for instant shots
An alternative to this is gifting a used smart phone and disabling other apps and features!
Less Expensive Amazing Gifts for 5-Year Old Girls
If you are looking for a less expensive gift idea for a 5 or 6-year-old girl, look no further. There are many, many options for girls this age out there. Here are a few of our top picks under $25!
Schleich Bayala Collection
This whimsical collection includes mermaids riding horses, elves, fairies, dragons and other very well-made and mystical creatures. Most of the mermaid and horse sets are magnetic and these pieces create hours of imaginative play.
While many of the horse and mermaid sets are under $17, the Glittering Flower House is well-worth the cost.

Mattel is great about releasing new Barbie’s and accessories each year. Some of the latest and best new entrants include:
For the little girl who loves taking care of people, the Fast Cast Clinic is perfect. It comes with everything you need to heal Barbie including a medical table and supplies, crutches, X-Ray machine, and supplies to make your own cast. Find it on Amazon here.
One of the latest additions to the Barbie lineup, Barbie Leopard Rainbow Hair is a punk rock Barbie with a big focus on hair. She comes with 16 accessories including scrunchies and headbands. My kids spend hours playing with this Barbie, brushing her hair and styling her with her cool outfits. Find it on Amazon here.

You can never go wrong with art supplies. Most recently, acrylic paint has been a big hit at our house. We collect rocks from outside, paint them, and scatter them around the neighborhood to bring some joy to neighbors.

LEGOS
In case you haven’t heard, girls love Legos too! Now that there are so many sets to choose from, many based on popular movies and shows, you can find the right set for any child. My daughters both play with legos regularly, and here are some of our favorite sets:
This set is awesome as a pre-Christmas gift or something you can store away and rebuild each year ahead of the holidays. The Elf’s are adorable and it’s so cute and festive that you can almost use it as a Christmas decoration once complete. Check it out on Amazon here.
LEGO Disney Frozen Elsa’s Market Adventure
This cute set comes complete with a tower with jetty, clock, market stand, and boat with a picnic. It all comes together in a really sweet way and it’s not as overwhelming as some of the other sets, so it’s a good “entry” level LEGO set to try. You can buy it on Amazon here.
LEGO Friends Andrea’s Family House
If you are shopping for a LEGO pro, this 802-piece 3-story house has it all. I love this particular set because it inspires imaginative play once built – with a pool, garage, and 5 family characters, it doubles as a fun miniature dollhouse once complete. Check it out on Amazon here.
If none of these seem exactly right, you can find a big selection of LEGO sets for girls on Amazon here. From princess castles to treehouses to doggy daycares there is something for everyone.
Oil Pastels
If you haven’t worked with oil pastels before, they are super fun to play with and change up the experience of typical crayons or markers.

KiwiCo
If you are buying for a child who loves crafting and building, the KiwiCo craft boxes are really awesome. We have subscriptions for our 3 and 5-year olds and for $20/month per box it’s really a worthwhile investment. The products are high quality and the activities keep my kids busy for hours. If you’re not interested in committing to a subscription, you can also buy one-off projects from their site like the Vortex Lab.
